May 2017

The good news this month: our neighbor, Holy Trinity Church, was spared from the Archdiocese's list of parishes that will be closed or merged. The bad news this month: small fires broke out in two neighborhood restaurants, Sutra on May 2 andPeppercorn's on May 8. We've got our ear to the ground on when both of these eateries will reopen and ask that if you hear something please let us know on ourFacebook page or via emailWe'll share the news so we can all support these locally-owned businesses.

Do you have new neighbors? Do they know about the NRZ? Please share this newsletter with them so they can learn more about what is going on in SoDo. They can also sign up online here.

The next meeting of your NRZ will be
Wednesday, May 17 at 6 pm, at the Amos Bull House, 59 South Prospect Street, 2nd Floor. Guest speaker will be Community Liaison and Hartford 311 Manager Alicia Graves, on the 311 reporting system and the status of issues reported in SoDo. There will also be two presentations by Catholic Charities regarding adding a day care center and a contained pharmacy to their properties on Wadsworth Street, and a discussion regarding a mural along Whitehead Highway. Please join us.

The South Downtown NRZ is always looking for more SoDo residents, property owners and business owners to get involved in the NRZ. If you are interested in one of our open Board positions, volunteering for a project, or serving on a committee, please email SoDoNRZ@gmail.com.
